There is always a moment when everything changes.
For Maria, founder of Terre de Mar, that moment has the face of acne, the voice of frustration, and the deep need to feel good in her own skin.
This is not the usual story of a brand.
It's a woman's journey. A journey made of invisible wounds, long-delayed dreams, and a question that changes everything:
What am I really putting on my face?
In this interview, Maria tells her story without filters.
Because only by starting from the truth can one shine again.
Welcome to Terre de Mar. Where the skin breathes. And care is an act of love.
What made you say enough to conventional skincare?
Acne. It arrived at 12 years old and never went away. Face, décolleté, back, scalp… I was disfigured. I was even ashamed to go to school.
Supermarket products, dermatologists, half-hearted treatments — nothing worked.
Then I discovered the truth: I had reactive skin, and everything I used only made it worse.
When did you realize you had to create something of your own?
Two moments.
The first: when I read an INCI for the first time. I was looking at my usual blue cleanser and I asked myself: “But I… what am I putting on my face?”
The second: during pregnancy.
I realized I wanted to do something good. For me, for my son, for all the women who trust the wrong brands — and deserve so much more.
How did you feel every time a product hurt you?
Hurt. Inside and out.
Every reaction worsened not only my skin but also the idea I had of myself.
I was frustrated, angry, tired of having to choose between aesthetics and well-being.
What was your first concrete act of change?
Reading a label.
This is how it all began. I discovered that there is another way: natural ingredients, essential formulas, respect for the skin.
What effect did the switch to natural skincare have?
A silent revolution.
The skin has stopped rebelling.
The texture has improved, the pimples have disappeared. It was as if it were telling me:
Finally, you listened to me.
How much has motherhood influenced your journey?
Totally.
I have become more aware, more selective, more true.
I wanted to be an example for my son: in nutrition, in care, in the small daily gestures.
I do not teach them perfection. I teach them respect: for themselves, for the Earth, for others.
The birth of Terre de Mar
What values did you want in each formula?
Safety. Effectiveness. Truth.
Every product is designed for those who have suffered, for those with sensitive skin, for those who no longer want to choose between beauty and health.
All ingredients are organic, Cosmos certified, made in Europe, vegan, and dermatologically tested.
For every purchase, we plant a tree and remove plastic from the oceans. The skin feels better. And so does the planet.
Why is it called Terre de Mar?
It is a name that contains everything.
There is Maria (Mar), there is Teresa (Terre), but there are also the Earth and the Sea, together.
Two elements in dialogue, two opposing but harmonious forces. Like every woman.
It is the Mediterranean, our cultural cradle, our origin. It is a return home.
Who do you create each formula for?
For real women.
That fight every day. That love. That get back up.
That don't seek filters, but solutions.
That need little — but that little must be right.
"What does Embrace who you are mean to you?"
Taking off the mask. Looking in the mirror. And saying:
"This is me. And I'm fine just like this."
It's a simple gesture. But revolutionary.
The heart of Terre de Mar
Every product is designed as a small gesture of love.
A simple, effective, safe ritual.
For those with sensitive skin. For those who have had acne.
For those who want a moment for themselves — even just 3 minutes a day.
Because skincare is not vanity. It's self-care.
What really makes Terre de Mar different?
Every formula is born from a real urgency, not from a trend.
We don't chase trends: we chase the truth.
We have eliminated the superfluous, keeping only what is truly necessary.
Result? A skincare that works. Even on the most complex skin.
We don't promise perfection. We promise results. And they work.
What makes you most proud when a customer writes to you?
When she tells me:
"I won't go back anymore."
When she reads the INCI and smiles.
When she tells me she feels good without makeup.
There I understand: I am helping someone feel better.
Do you have a ritual of your own?
Yes. And it's also the heart of Terre de Mar.
3 products. 3 deep breaths. 3 minutes just for me.
It's my Daily Ritual.
It wakes me up, grounds me, prepares me for the world.
Before being a mom, entrepreneur, partner... I am me.
If you could say one sentence to someone about to try Terre de Mar?
New things are scary, I know.
But sometimes a small gesture is enough to change everything.
I don't promise you magic.
I promise you that if you listen to yourself, even just for 3 minutes a day, something extraordinary can begin.
It won't be the usual cream. I promise.
It will be the first step to feeling good in your skin again.
